Following on from previous successes, this year the Douglas Choral Union have been paid a massive compliment and given permission to perform the world famous musical, Les Miserables. Running for an unprecedented 22 years in London, this is the first time in the British Isles an amateur musical theatre group have been given the rights to this amazing show. We are obviously very proud of this, and look forward to looking after such a prodcution with all the care and enthusiasm it deserves, giving the Manx public a show to be proud of.

Set in France in the 1800's, it follows the life of a convict, Jean Valjean, on his release from the chain gang. He is saved from the police by the Bishop and decides to start life anew, a changed man.

Eight years later he is found by Javert, the police officer chasing him, but begs time to save the life of the daughter of an ex employee.

Moving from Mountfermil to Paris, this touching and passionate story shows how man may change for the better but also demonstrates the wretchedness of humankind through the poor. We also see the failed student revolution of 1832 and the characters involved in this.

This is a show with a wonderfully moving score which will touch every emotion and should not be missed
